Multitasking

I don’t multitask well. I don’t think anyone really does it well or even at all. Multitasking means doing several tasks at once. This is often impossible. Some things are easy to multitask like doing laundry while writing or even while cleaning the kitchen because the Laundry is mostly done by a machine. When you do the laundry, you load the washer and walk away. You can do other things while the washer goes through its cycles. That’s not truly multitasking because the machine is actually doing the washing. You are only waiting for the machine to finish.

Pick one thing and do it. The world puts too much emphasis on multitasking. Humans don’t do it well. we can do two things simultaneously. That harkens back to our days as hunter gatherers. We gathered or hunted our food, while ensuring that we were not hunted or gathered ourselves. That was the key to our survival, after all. Multitasking is the enemy of productivity. We can get multiple tasks done, but we either are inefficient at them or we don’t do them as well as we should have. what most people don’t realize is that multitasking is just a waste of their time. good planning can appear to be multitasking, but you are really just taking time to do one thing at a time in small time chunks. That’s what most people who ‘multitask’ well are actually doing.

Multitasking is not something that most people can do well. Even computers don’t do it very well. The more tasks you try to do simultaneously; the fewer you do well. as I said, choose one task and do it. One task at a time is the best way to accomplish the things that you want to do. To be successful at "multitasking" you have to be good at juggling your Tasks. you really aren’t really multitasking you are actually just managing your time. Most people who say they are multitasking are really managing their time.

Time management is much better than multitasking because we do it much better than trying to do everything at once. Doing everything at once, is actually counterproductive. It’s better to schedule time for your tasks so that you get them done. Doing multiple things at one time is difficult and almost impossible, but the human mind is not capable of it. Doing two things at exactly the same time is impossible. We can only do one thing at a time. Even if we try to do two things simultaneously, we can only spend a few minutes at a time on each of the things — one thing at a time. You get going on one of your simultaneous tasks and have to switch to the other. It’s not very productive. Schedule time to do each thing for some time and then switch and work on the next item. That’s how to productively “multitask.” So skip the multitasking. Go with managing your time instead. You will be more productive.

About

I am not one who is comfortable talking about myself but here goes. I enjoy writing, family history, and reading. I decided to do this blog because I wanted to try something new. I decided to make it a weekly blog because I wasn't sure that I could keep up with a daily one, and monthly seemed like I was writing a magazine. I think I did ok with my choices. You'll notice that there are not a lot of graphics on my site. That's because there are graphics plastered everywhere on the Internet and those sites sometimes take forever to load. This blog is a place where you can kick back, relax and be ready to be amused. At least I hope I willbamuse you. This blog is on a variety of subjects from my ficitional cat agency, the FFL, which is monthly, to instructional blogs to editorials, which are my opinions only. I admit that I don't know everything and could be wrong -- I frequently am. Now, stop reading about me and read what I have to say!
