Subject: Mission Report
We have received your decision and I must say, I’m disappointed. I will abide by your decision to promote Agent Probie to Senior Agent. I will be the bigger cat and not rebel. I wish to state for the record I don’t understand your choice, but I will respect it.
I have noticed the humans are discussing something. I believe they have tumbled to the pending visit by Agent Molly. I hope they don’t make problems. I think they may be suspicious. The canines are oblivious as always. I continue to watch them in addition to the humans. I am not sure what the canines think they are here for, but I suspect they are prisoners. They are dependent on the humans for all things. We felines have demanded and received bathroom facilities while the canines must ask permission. Such a thing boggles the mind.
I will be observing the human-canine interaction with an eye towards exploiting it to our advantage. I’m not quite sure what advantage there might be, but if there is one, I will discover it. You can count on me to be a team player.
Well, as long as Agent Probie doesn’t throw his weight around. I draw the line at that. So far, he hasn’t but I will watch out for that. I suppose he will make a reasonably good Senior Agent. He has stated that it would be best if he were also Clowder Leader. Agent Winnie told me flatly, he doesn’t want that position. I don’t feel I can fulfill it properly, as the youngest in the clowder. Since he is the eldest, I reluctantly support Agent Probie for the role. I question whether we need an official Clowder Leader if he is going to take on that role as well.
Agent Winnie reminded me that it is tradition to have a Clowder Leader. It sticks in my throat that Agent Probie is, again, in the right. I dislike being wrong. I will get over this feeling of annoyance, especially since I don’t have much choice in the matter. I suppose I should look at this as a learning experience. Agent Winnie has been known to say we all need to keep learning in order to survive in this world. I suppose he is correct. Agent Probie requested that I meet with him to discuss my schedule.
He explained his choice in making some small changes in my duties. I can see he thought about it a lot. It showed in the changes he made. He explained each change as fully as he could and actually asked for my input. I couldn’t see a reason to object to the changes and so agreed to perform the duties set out in the schedule.
I don’t know if Agent Probie spoke with Agent Winnie about his schedule, but I suspect he did. It isn’t my business what Agent Skittlebutt’s duties are except when they impact my own. We can talk about that if we find any problems, I expect. I’m not sure if Agent Probie would want to be informed of any such problem, should they arise. I suspect he might. I will deal with that if and when the problem arises.
