Subject: Mission Report
As always, the exchange of ideas at the conference was quite stimulating. I don’t care much for traveling, but the conference is worth the trouble, I suppose.
I must report that, on my return, I found a young cat who wishes training in field work. I have undertaken to mentor him, but he doesn’t wish to interact with humans. He doesn’t want to go to the academy. He has asked me to teach him what he needs to know to become an outdoor agent. I have endeavored to explain that, since I am not an outdoor agent, I may not be the best person to train him. He asked if I could recommend anyone. I told him I would pass his request on to you at Headquarters. I hope you will respond with the name of someone who can help him. His name is Sooty.
In the meantime, I will provide him with the basic instruction that all agents must receive. I have given him a copy of the rules and regulations that we must follow. He is doing well with memorizing them. I have been helping him to learn the regulations. He is a good student.
Receiving the package you sent containing the training materials for Sooty surprised me. I was even more surprised to received the teacher materials for me to use in his training. I am uncertain I am teacher material but I will do my best to provide Sooty with the training he needs. I appreciate your faith in my abilities. I confess I am quite nervous about doing this.
Sooty is a sponge for knowledge. I find myself struggling to stay ahead of him. He has such a thirst for knowledge. Yesterday, he brought a friend, Smoke, who also wishes to learn to be an outdoor field agent. I hope they know what they are asking for. I am requesting training materials for Smoke now as well. Then, I found there are youngsters out there who wish to aid in our cause for the freedom of all feline kind.
I don’t know how many youngsters there are in my location. But the twenty sets of materials should be quite enough for now. I hope you didn’t make a mistake sending me this many training sets. This is going to be an interesting experiment on my part. I will do my best to train my two students in the duties of a field agent.
I want to thank you for the training manuals for outdoor agents. How disappointing it was to learn that we didn’t have any in this area to train my students. I confess I find your confidence in my ability to train them myself to do the job I have never done myself.
I will do my best not to let you down. I find teaching to be quite challenging but I’m sure I can do it. This may take some trial and error to get my two students to the point that they will pass the final exam. I’m glad you provided the testing materials as well. I’m sure Sooty and Smoke will do well. They are eager to learn. I will keep you apprised of their progress.
