Knickknacks And Clutter

I have too many knickknacks. You know what knickknacks are, those ornaments that you have sitting around your house gathering dust. I have too many. I know this because I have been packing them up for a house move. That’s a job and a half. It’s also another blog. I’ve never moved house before and I am finding the knickknacks overwhelming.

Knickknacks shouldn’t be overwhelming. They shouldn’t be dust covered either. I’m discovering that I am not a housekeeper. I don’t think I’m all that domestic. I can’t cook and I don’t dust enough. We have a lifetime of knickknacks that all need to be packed up. Whether we keep them or not is something we can decide later. right now, I’m concentrating on getting them packed up and ready to move out.

I’m not even sure where all those knickknacks have come from. Perhaps they have been breeding there for decades on the shelf. They could have been there getting together and making little knickknacks for decades.

Ok, I don’t really believe that, I’m overwhelmed as I said and I’m still working on just two room. I suppose it’s really just one room. There’s an arch between what we always called the living room and the dining room. The dining room hasn’t had a dining table in it in decades. I usually refer to it as the office area. It’s where I usually write these blogs, my stories and my journal entries. It’s also where my work computer is situated. I work from home and this is where I do it. There aren’t as many knickknacks here as in the living room portion of this room. That doesn’t even cover the stuff on the walls. Pictures and wall sconces are on some of the walls. I have a collection of porcelain and glass horses that sat in a wall cabinet, which I have packed up. All that remains there is to take the cabinet down. It’s a small wooden unit with three shelves and a glass door. I’ll wrap that in a towel and get it ready for the move soon.

It’s good to clear out the clutter in our lives. I hope to be able to do that. I may be selling bits and pieces of my horse collection along with other knickknacks. They can go to someone else’s house to collect dust. That’s not to say that I won’t keep some. I will. I just think it’s time to cut down on the clutter in my life. That’s all. Moving house will do that for you.

About

I am not one who is comfortable talking about myself but here goes. I enjoy writing, family history, and reading. I decided to do this blog because I wanted to try something new. I decided to make it a weekly blog because I wasn't sure that I could keep up with a daily one, and monthly seemed like I was writing a magazine. I think I did ok with my choices. You'll notice that there are not a lot of graphics on my site. That's because there are graphics plastered everywhere on the Internet and those sites sometimes take forever to load. This blog is a place where you can kick back, relax and be ready to be amused. At least I hope I willbamuse you. This blog is on a variety of subjects from my ficitional cat agency, the FFL, which is monthly, to instructional blogs to editorials, which are my opinions only. I admit that I don't know everything and could be wrong -- I frequently am. Now, stop reading about me and read what I have to say!
