Subject: The Punishment

The humans have reopened this place, much to my relief. We can get scents and clear sounds from outside again. They prevented us from getting that for many days. They also brought in the noisy thing and put it where the tall observation platform was. We cannot effectively use the observation platform. Agent Trouble hogs the smaller one. She sleeps on it, despite it’s nearness to the noisy thing. It was very warm before the humans closed us off, then it got cool. The spinning things on the top of this place are spinning a lot as well. They push cool air down on us. It feels like wind, but it comes down instead of across. It’s all very strange. I do not know why they have tormented us like that. I have done nothing to deserve such punishment. Agent Trouble will not tell me what she did to do so. it must have been something she did. I cannot bring myself to approach the noisy thing.

The human female sleeps in her skin for the most part now. She usually puts on covering of some sort, but with this place closed as it is, she sleeps in only her skin. It is odd behavior. I have a theory that she is warm. To test it, I tried sleeping beside her, fur to skin. She made me leave saying that it was ‘too hot’. I don’t know how this fits in with the closing off of this place, but I am sure that there is a connection. She started putting her covering on at night again when they opened the place up again.

Subject: The Punishment

I did nothing to cause this. My theory is that the humans are not really punishing us.

They did turn it off once, when they turned off everything. Then it got hot and we were uncomfortable. There was noise in the area, a loud noise like something I heard before. It wailed up and then stopped. I could smell smoke and wondered what was going on. The female returned as the male was going around closing off the outside and turning on the noisy thing. He told the female that something called the ‘power’ went out when something called the ‘lines’ set some trees on fire. I also heard the thump before they turned off the ‘power’. I do not know what that means, but I believe that the humans did not do that on purpose. Closing this place down was deliberate, but I do not believe that they have absolute control over ‘power’ whatever it is.

The noisy thing spews coldness. I find myself wondering if the humans are punishing us or not. They only seem to do it when it gets very hot or when the white stuff falls outside. They leave the spaces open but covered with the stiff stuff that prevents us from getting outside for most of the growing and warm time. When it gets cold, they close the clear covers. This is why I do not believe this was meant as a punishment. I think they control the weather inside this place, but not outside. Their power is limited to this space. I will report further results from my investigations.
