Tabitha has reported again on the sporting event that is going on to the sunny side of this location, which is what the humans call south. She heard more from the humans who were watching the participants. They called it baseball. A human in the middle of a pattern of some sort throws a ball at another human on the edge of the pattern, who tries to hit the ball with a stick. If successful, they run around and everyone cheers. It seems a very strange game to me.
Butternut seems to have settled down. She is coming along nicely. I feel good about my belief in her. I am certain she will make a fine agent.
Blackie and Marco have set up a base of sorts over the big road to the sunup and are covering their beats together. They said they feel safer doing that. Saucy’s beat takes her towards sundown. She doesn’t have to cross any big roads to make her reports. She says there are other dangers there in the form of children and dogs. She assures me that she takes the utmost care in making her rounds.
Soot’s territory is to the more shaded side of this location, what humans call north. He has not yet made his report. It’s unusual for him to miss his rendezvous time. I am doing my best not to worry, although I can’t really help it. Butternut has volunteered to go find him and determine whether he is all right or not. She left before I could tell her not to.

I am pleased to say that my new schedule is working well. That was not always the case. Agent Winnie of all felines gave me the most trouble there. He is an archivist first and foremost. He is not best pleased that he must give up time in the archives to perform his duties. I had been giving him less time on observation duty. I have pointed out that I have taken more observation duty than I have given to anyone else, just so Agent Winnie can spend as much time in the archives as possible.
I’m also having trouble with Agent Zoe who has been taking up a lot of Agent Sadie’s time. Agent Sadie’s duties do not include any observational duties. Her task is to support our clowder. Her work is primarily in the office and archives.
This is also a problem with Agent Winnie. He wants Agent Sadie to spend time helping him in the archives. Poor Agent Sadie is being stretched too thin. I have done what I can to mitigate her problems. She is already self-conscious of her disability. I have spoken with both Agents Zoe and Winnie.
I believe I have managed to get them both to understand that they are not acting in Agent Sadie’s best interest. I’m certain that their conflict is not helping poor Sadie. I have explained that Agent Sadie is in the schedule and she will follow it. I have also spoken to Agent Zoe about her students. I pointed out to her that she is close to being derelict in her own duties. She cannot continue to thrust her duties onto Agent Sadie. I think I have managed to get Zoe to understand that she can’t monopolize Agent Sadie.
