Feline Freedom League February 2024 Mission Report

My reorganization of the archives is almost complete. I have stacks of reports all over my desk. I know which pile is which. I have to organize each pile before I put it back in the file cabinets which I must also relabel. It’s all progressing nicely. Or it was.

Our new recruit has arrived. Agent Sadie walks with an odd, very un-feline gait. She is startling when she comes into a room. The first thing she did when she entered the archive room was knock over three of my stacks. Now they are all mixed up. I’ll have to reorganize them again. It had taken me weeks to get them in a fit state to start filing them.

I know it was an accident. I’m trying very hard not to blame Agent Sadie for the mess. She is so very apologetic and wants to help me, but she is so clumsy. In trying to help me pick up the reports, she knocked over three more piles! I confess I ordered her out of the archives. I was sure I would hear from Agent Probie about this.

I did. It seems I made her cry. Believe me, that was not my intention. It was the months it took me to get the reorganization to that state. Now I have to do it again. I have apologized to Agent Sadie. Agent Probie understood it was more frustration than anger. I know she has a disability which accounts for her strange way of walking and limited control of her limbs. That makes me feel awful about yelling at her.

I have set up a preliminary school for future agents. My first class has arrived. I admit the reception from the other agents surprised me. Agent Probie was most upset. He pointed out that I should have at least told him my plans. I confess I hadn’t thought of that. He pointed out that we are a unit dedicated to observation of human behaviors. I countered that we had the experience to train youngsters.

Agent Probie pointed out I had made myself responsible for training the youngsters. Also, he pointed out I was still responsible for the observation duties. I didn’t see the issue he was raising. I said I could keep up with my duties while working with the training.

I am not a slave. I am an agent. My time, outside my duties as an agent of the League, is my own to spend as I choose. I have told Agent Probie that. All he did was smirk. He said I must continue to maintain my duties, and that if I failed, I’d be subject to discipline. I am certain I am in the right here.

Agent Probie told me he had worked out a schedule of agent duties. He said my action in starting my preliminary agent school had thrown it out. Now, he had to consider the time I would need to work with the kittens. I pointed out he didn’t need to do that. He told me there weren’t enough hours in the day for me to do what I wanted to do.
